The campaign for U.S. ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
The day this campaign starts, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child celebrates its 20th birthday. It celebrates that 193 countries worldwide has agreed that children deserve to have rights, and that these rights are universally important. It also celebrates in acknowledgment of how far the world has come since 1989 when it comes to children’s rights.
However, this day mournst the fact that the United States of America and Somalia are the only countries in the UN who have yet to acknowledge these rights. If the U.S. ratifies the Convention, if will not only improve the lives of children in America, but have an effect on children’s rights all over the world.
